Maryland Mandatory Paid Leave Law Review

As many of you know, on April 9th, 2022, the Maryland General Assembly overrode Governor Larry Hogan’s veto of the Time to Care Act of 2022, which establishes mandatory paid leave for workers experiencing the kind of events covered under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act. Although it will take several years to fully implement these new paid leave rules, we have been asked to have a session on this topic to answer many of your questions about the impact this law will have on your workplace. Additionally, on March 14, 2021, the EEOC issued a technical assistance document entitled “The COVID-19 Pandemic and Caregiver Discrimination under Federal Employment Discrimination Laws.” This document details recommended best practices for employers managing workers with family caregiver responsibilities. So, please join us on June 23rd as Doug Desmarais reviews the thematically related Time to Care Act of 2022 and the new EEOC Guidance, and discusses what you and your team need to do now to prepare for and respond to these significant legal developments.
