  • Matt Grist

    Senior Principal Consultant, ACA Aponix

    Matt Grist works with organizations as a strategic advisory resource. He has 16 years of experience in information security and technology. Prior to joining ACA Aponix, he was the Deputy CISO at Aegon/Transamerica, responsible for overseeing security program improvements and delivery of strategic projects. He has also been the information security officer for an oil and gas logistics company and delivered large infrastructure programs for the UK government.

  • Brian Block

    Managing Partner, Simkiss & Block

    Brian is a Managing Partner at Alera Group. In this role, Brian’s responsibilities include maintaining relationships with and quality of service for many of the organization’s top clients, developing new client relationships, and fostering constructive partnerships with insurers. In one of his roles before being named Managing Partner, Brian led his firm's Cyber Liability Risk Management practice.

    Brian holds a BSBA in Finance from Villanova University as well as the Chartered Property Casualty (CPCU) designation from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters and the Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) designation from the Insurance Institute of America. Brian plays a leadership role in numerous charitable and community organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors of United Way of Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey and as a founding partner of Social Venture Partners Philadelphia. Brian and his wife, Maureen, and their two children make their home in Villanova, PA

    Commercial Insurance Consultant, AIA Alera Group

    Gene became an esteemed member of the Alera Group team in 2017, assuming the role of Commercial Insurance Consultant. Prior to his tenure at Alera Group, Gene owned and grew a thriving insurance agency, specializing in risk management and insurance solutions for both local and national enterprises, over a span of 15 years. Gene's career in the insurance industry began in 1985 with Marsh & McLennan in New York City.

    With an impressive professional tenure of 35 years, Gene is widely recognized as a preeminent authority in Environmental Insurance across all its facets. His depth of expertise is unrivaled in the field, underscored by his distinguished track record, which notably encompasses spearheading the development of the pollution liability insurance program for one of the nation's largest brownfields, Bethlehem Steel.

    Gene is an alumnus of Wilkes University, having earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Beyond his professional endeavors, he enjoys golfing, attending sporting events, and unwinding along the scenic shores of New Jersey.
